The product flow

How Startup MRI Works

Startup MRI gives you a structured way to inspect an idea before you build it. You provide the context; the report organizes the questions and tradeoffs.

Quick answer

What happens when you analyze an idea?

You submit a short description and five structured inputs. Startup MRI evaluates validation factors with deterministic rules, then uses AI to explain the resulting signals in a report. The output is decision supportβ€”not a guarantee, forecast, or substitute for customer feedback.

Four steps, made visible

From idea to validation report

  1. 1

    Submit your startup idea

Describe the idea in one or two sentences, then identify the target audience, business model, acquisition channel, and technical background.

  2. 2

    Make assumptions explicit

The structured questions turn a vague concept into inputs about who has the problem, how they might find you, and how the product could earn revenue.

  3. 3

    Review validation factors

The rule engine produces consistent signals across market demand, competition, distribution, monetization, build difficulty, founder fit, opportunity, and the overall score.

  4. 4

    Read the AI explanation

The AI layer explains the structured results as risks, opportunities, MVP boundaries, acquisition experiments, and recommended next steps. It does not choose the scores.

  5. 5

    Decide what to test next

Use the report to choose a customer conversation, payment test, landing-page experiment, or narrower MVP. New evidence should change your plan.

The output

A report you can act on

A report is most useful when it leads to a concrete learning action. Every report ships with a 7-Day Validation Action Plan derived from the highest-risk assumption β€” seven days of actions, evidence to collect, and a Continue / Refine / Re-test / Stop signal by Day 7. Explore these examples to see the structure, then compare the recommendations with your own customer context.

Use the report with judgment

Startup MRI does not predict success and cannot replace customer discovery, market research, or founder judgment. The scores are structured decision support; the explanations are AI-generated from your inputs and calculated signals. Verify important assumptions with real people and real commitments.

Common questions

How it works FAQ

What information do I need to submit?

A short idea description, target audience, monetization model, customer acquisition channel, and technical background.

Who decides the scores?

A deterministic rule engine calculates the scores from structured inputs. The AI layer explains them but does not decide them.

What is in the report?

It includes an overall score, dimension breakdown, risks, opportunities, MVP guidance, acquisition ideas, and recommended next steps.

Does the report include customer research?

No. It helps you identify what to research; your own interviews, experiments, and commitments provide the evidence.

Is Startup MRI free?

The current validation flow is available without an account or payment requirement.

Can the report tell me whether my startup will succeed?

No. It highlights risks and opportunities so you can make a better-informed next decision.

Ready to inspect your idea?

Start with the assumptions you already have. The next useful question is better than false certainty.
